bye bye studenting

So, today I went to my first ever book launch where I was actually involved in the book’s creation! Pretty exciting ([profile] labellementuese, guess which one of my authors made the biggest effort to talk to me and is a total sweetie?) And last night was our graduation party, so I must totally be a grown up now. It feels good.

I am looking forward to having some time off. Being a slacker for a bit (a few days). Where slacking includes making progress on my festivids assignment, doing some intensive typing up, marathoning 24 and hopefully watching a lot of bad movies. Maybe some good ones even. Of course, it is getting on summer, so really I should be hanging out in the sun having picnics. Fabulous ♥

Writing my project review is depressing me, but on the other hand, Amy Pond is freaking adorable so the world cannot be all that bad, can it?

Things that are good

I can’t say that staying up for an Alien marathon on a school night seemed like a good idea at the time, because it didn’t. But I did it anyway. And then it was three am and we’d just finished the third movie, and really, what was the point in going to sleep? No point!

So we ended up watching The Peep Show, which is a British TV show that is extremely uncomfortable to watch. It is told in first person, with thoughts, from the perspective of two flatmates, and the point seems to be to feel as embarrassed as possible for them. We made it through three episodes before giving up and talking about our cats instead.

Then it was class time! We have all made journals, and spent the morning stitching together signatures of paper. I feel ridiculously proud of my journal. It has a ribbon and everything. We had morning tea, and polytech is way better than university. Our whole class is smaller than many tutorial groups at Vic these days. They bake. We get to do craft, and we are in the city so we can go buy decent coffees and lunches. People who aren’t even in your class say hi to you in the halls. We don’t have to buy our textbooks, we get issued them for the year, or just given them. Yay for putting all your costs into the one sum!

So school is good, and hanging out with friends is good, and sleep will be very good. If only I didn’t have to get up tomorrow morning as well.
